The Boston Beer Company was founded in 1984 by Jim Koch in Boston, Massachusetts, with Samuel Adams Boston Lager as its flagship product. Named after the patriot and maltster Samuel Adams, Boston Lager helped reignite interest in full-flavored, craft beer in America. Brewed with a two-row blend of malts and Noble hops in a traditional decoction process, Boston Lager became a symbol of American craft brewing quality and ambition. Today, Boston Beer Company is one of the largest American-owned craft breweries, producing an extensive lineup of seasonal, barrel-aged, and limited-edition beers under the Samuel Adams banner.
