Rolling Rock is an American pale lager that originated in 1939 in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, brewed by the Latrobe Brewing Company. The brand is known for its distinctive green bottle and the enigmatic '33' printed on every label — a number whose meaning has been debated by beer fans for decades (leading theories include the number of words in the beer's original pledge). Rolling Rock was acquired by Anheuser-Busch in 2006 and production moved to New Jersey, though it maintains the Latrobe heritage in its branding. Rolling Rock is celebrated as an icon of American lager tradition.
