Molson Brewery was founded in 1786 in Montreal, Quebec by John Molson, making it the oldest brewery in North America and one of the world's oldest operating breweries. Molson Canadian — their flagship lager — has been a symbol of Canadian national identity for generations, brewed with 100% Canadian barley and water from the pristine lakes and rivers of Canada. Through the 2005 merger with Coors, Molson Coors Beverage Company became one of the world's largest brewing companies, now producing and distributing a global portfolio of beer brands while keeping the Molson Canadian heritage alive.
